What do you like/love about your program?
I love science, biology especially, because it's constantly changing and shifting. We discover new things that pushes our curiosity forward, and it is always in a hope to change our world for the better. Not only are we learning more and more about the world we live in, but we are learning more about ourselves, and allowing ourselves to make mistakes because it leads us to a better future.

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I love reading and watching movies of any genre (except maybe horror). I really love volunteering, especially if it involves working with kids. Travelling has always been a passion of mine, and I haven't really gotten to travel as much as I would like to, but I love meeting new people from different countries.

Do you have a talent or amazing experience?
A couple of years ago, I had the chance to go on a program to India with students from all over the world! There was around 40 participants, and I had the opportunity to meet individuals from Syria, Portugal, Tajikistan, and so many more places. It was really amazing to get to know everyone and to see the different world views from different nations. It really changed my life and I'm so happy that I gained the experience of meeting all of them!

What is one helpful study technique that you use?
I read a portion of my notes and then summarize them in one or two sentences. I find that this helps especially if you have a really terrible memory (like me), because it breaks it down into smaller sections.

What language(s) do you speak or write?
I can only speak and write in English!

Describe yourself in 3 words
Loving, Compassionate, and Chill

What do you like/love about your program?
In my programs it’s about exploration and all the diverse media you can use for this. I love exploring all the different ways to express yourself, and learning fundamentals of how we function.

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
Some of my interests and hobbies include longboarding, reading, painting, working out, gardening (a new hobby), and volunteering around the city.

Do you have a talent or amazing experience to share?
If I had to choose anything about myself to share, I would share my optimism and supporting nature. I ALWAYS try to find the silver lining and the good in people, or the situation. I love giving support and it doesn't matter who you are or what situation someone is in, I will always be there for whomever needs it.

What is one helpful study technique that you use?
I write all my notes from class or the textbook together in a notebook. This allows me to have all the important information organized in a compact place that I can easily review. It's all ordered by chapter or topic so it's easy to navigate.

What language(s) do you speak and write?
ASL as well as English

Describe yourself in 3 words

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I'm a really big reader, at this point I devour books whenever I can!

Do you have a talent or amazing experience to share?
Not so much a talent, but I've always been really interested in dance growing up, and a couple of years ago I had the opportunity to try out and be on the U of A Dance Team. It was an amazing experience for me to be part in something I've always loved and to get out of my comfort zone.

What is one helpful study technique that you use?
I'm a really big visual learner, so I like to summarize information chapter by chapter in flow charts, diagrams, images, etc., as well as make connections between each chapter with these diagrams. It's a great way to retain information as well as good tool to use when reviewing before exams.

What language(s) do you speak and write?
English and French

Describe yourself in 3 words
Friendly, open-minded, and positive.

After Degree in Education, Major in Math & Minor in Chemistry

What do you like/love about your program?
I am a big Math geek! It is unfortunate that most people have an irrational fear for math (see what I did there? Math pun haha). There are so many branches of math that are pure enjoyment, and believe it or not, math is useful! I want more people to appreciate the beauty of math, and this starts from a young age. Who can better open children's eyes to a completely new side of math? Math teachers! And I get to be around math for the rest of my life!

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I enjoy baking, hanging out with friends, spending time with family, listening to people's stories, watching puppy videos and (Disney) movies, and trying out new restaurants. . I used to sing and draw oil painting too!

Do you have a talent or amazing experience?
Amongst my friends I am always the 'mother figure'. I guess my talent is that I make people around me feel comfortable and that they can trust and rely on me and they can tell me anything. Because of that, my friends often come to me when they need to get something off their chest. We get to spend a lot of quality time together and it brings my friends and me closer.

What is one helpful study technique that you use?
I prepare for exams by re-doing all of my assignments and practice midterm/ finals before checking it with the solution. I also pay very close attention in class and contribute in class discussion for courses that require high-level of participation.

What language(s) do you speak or write?
I can speak English (duh), Cantonese, and Mandarin

Describe yourself in 3 words
Empathetic, Caring, Thinker.

What do you like/love about your program?
I get to focus on the topics that matter the most to me, and there is such a wide variety of topics that give me a deeper appreciation for all the branches of psychology. I also enjoy the freedom it gives me to take courses in other subjects I find interesting.

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I LOVE to bake, sometimes I don't even want to eat it but there is just something fun and relaxing to me about baking. Food in general is something I really enjoy, from either making something or going out to try something new. I think you can learn a lot about a culture from their food. Reading is one of my favourite pastimes, but with all the reading in school I have been enjoying all the book to movie adaptations. I am very passionate about health and fitness, so whether it's squeezing in a quick walk with my dog or going to the gym, I find being active allows me to focus better in school.

Do you have a talent or amazing experience to share?
When the Grey Cup was last played in Edmonton in 2010 I was part of the halftime performance. It was a once in a lifetime experience and so scary knowing how many people watch the Grey Cup!

What is one helpful study technique that you use?
I find that repetition is the best study technique for myself, so I either make revision notes or flashcards and go through them as many times as I can. What makes the difference when making the notes/flash cards is taking the time to go through and understand the concepts rather than blindly copying. Also testing yourself from whatever resources you have, whether that be a textbook has questions, questions from your prof, or having a friend ask you, just as long as you are having to recall the information and use it!

What language(s) do you speak and write?
English

Describe yourself in 3 words
Easily distracted, Quiet, Motivated.

What do you like/love about your program?
I love the variety in my program. I love that I can finish one of my courses and come out, not just with a better understanding of a book we've read, but some ideas about how class functions in society, the way a trip to the doctor becomes a narrative experience, or how movies distort our view of history. There's always something new to think about and I love how passionate my professors are when sharing what they know.

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I love reading, which is helpful in my program. I'm interested in literacy, which is one of the reasons I want to become a librarian and help people learn to read. Besides books, I also love music – both listening and playing. I've been in the concert band here and that's been an awesome experience. I also like playing keyboard during study breaks. It's been a while, but I like playing soccer. Otherwise, I like spending time with friends, maybe going swing dancing when we're feeling energetic. I love road trips, camping and travelling. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the world in the future.

Do you have a talent or amazing experience to share?
This summer, I had the chance to travel to Italy with one of my friends for three weeks. It was a pretty amazing experience! I’ve been taking some Italian classes, so I got to practice a little bit. I loved the food. I loved learning about the history and I loved meeting so many interesting people.

What is one helpful study technique that you use?
I find mind-mapping helpful when I study. It's something I do mid-way and near the end of reviewing my notes. I put the notes and my textbook away and try and think of something I remember from one of the lectures. Then, I connect that idea to another concept, jotting down the main ideas or definitions of each concept as I go. After that, I compare everything I could generate on my own with what's still left in my notes and study that. I find it's a good way to figure out what I really do know and helps me to avoid wasting time on the stuff that I already remember.

What language(s) do you speak and write?
English, French and a tiny bit of Italian.

Describe yourself in 3 words
Enthusiastic, Kind, Passionate.

What do you like/love about your program?
I love the diversity of the subjects I get to study. I have a large appreciation for learning about the human body, but I also love to learn about how we as humans interact with each other. I’ve taken a great interest in sociology, and am glad that my program allows me to be flexible in which classes I want to take.

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I am very passionate about music. I grew up playing many instruments, but mainly stick to the guitar and piano now. I also love to keep an active lifestyle – playing soccer and volleyball in the Uni’s intramural leagues, or just going for runs or bike rides around campus.

Do you have a talent or amazing experience to share?
My most amazing experience came last summer when I decided to go to London, England to go see a Coldplay concert. I managed to score a front row ticket, and Chris Martin sat right in front of me as he sang "Fix You" to 90,000 people at Wembley stadium — best experience of my life!

What is one helpful study technique that you use?
I like to read over my notes repetitively and consistently, whether it’s when I’m bussing home from school, waiting for my next class to start, or when I’m getting bored during a lecture. The constant revision helps me when I go to do my big studying before an exam.

What language(s) do you speak and write?
English and Français.

Describe yourself in 3 words
Energetic, Enthusiastic and Balanced.

What do you like/love about your program?
I have been complaining a lot about all-nighters and writing thousand papers per week but I have to admit , it's pretty DOPE to read your own work after and be like "mmh I  wrote that , I'm SMART"!

What are your interests/passions/hobbies?
I LOVE TO TRAVEL, the word "love" does not describe enough how travelling is my life…one of the main reasons why I'm broke haha ! I'm a NBA basketball player lover…notice the difference…and I also like everything that means "ME time", which goes from spa-manicure to Netflix watch-binging or restaurant hopping (I'm a foodie).

Do you have a talent or amazing experience?
Is being friendly a talent? lmao! I don't really know…being me is an amazing life experience I guess.

What is one helpful study technique that you use?
It is a bad study habit that no one should do but it works for me... I study best while in bed and when I'm sleepy…So I will wait to be sleepy and start studying. I retained information more efficiently that way.

What language(s) do you speak or write?
I speak French (Bonjour :D) , it is my first language ! And I also speak English
